GPS accuracy
GPS accuracy varies with environment and device — expect a few meters to tens of meters.
Your device reports an accuracy estimate with every GPS fix. MOOV shows it while recording (for example "GPS ±8m") and uses it to filter bad points.
- •Open sky gives the best accuracy
- •Canyons, dense forest, tunnels and tall buildings degrade it
- •Phones worn inside bags or cars record worse than phones in the open
MOOV discards points with poor accuracy or impossible movement, which is why your recorded distance can differ slightly from a dedicated GPS device.
